NRG Stadium

The Super Bowl 51 will be played in the city of Houston in the state of Texas. The sports arena will be NRG Stadium, formerly known in the period 2002/2013 as Reliant Stadium, is an American football stadium that has also hosted soccer matches and other outstanding events.

Location
The location of NRG Stadium is: 1NRG Parkway, is located in Harris County in the Houston metropolitan area of the state of Texas.

Construction and inauguration
Its construction began on March 9, 2000 and was inaugurated on August 24, 2002. It had a construction cost for the time of $ 352 million.

Capacity
It has a capacity of 71,795 spectators and can expand to 80 in concerts, as happened on March 17, 2013 when the attendance record was given with 80,020 spectators on a George Strait show on the Cowboy Rides Away Tour.

Local teams
NRG Stadium is home to the NFL Houston Texans team from 2002 to the present.

Events
The NRG Stadium is and has hosted a lot of events, some of them periodically. It is since 2003 to date, the headquarters of the world’s largest cattle Rodeo show, known as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
From 2006 to date it is home to the Texas Bowl, an American football game where the college football champion is enshrined.

NRG Stadium hosted three games of the Copa America Centenario, two games were played in the group stage (Colombia vs Costa Rica and Mexico vs Venezuela) and a match for the semifinals (United States vs. Argentina)
